This is a definitely a more dynamic and risky side of Explosions in the Sky never before seen. Listening to the new track, you can sense a more upbeat and optimistic band that might be trying it’s fans something. How will their dedicated fanbase respond? I don’t know that answer but as fan myself, I find that they are growing up with me and listening to this made me smile. Welcome back boys!

Explosions In The Sky – Trembling Hands from Take Care, Take Care, Take Care (2011)

On May 3rd, dredg will release their 5th and most daring studio album yet, Chuckles & Mr. Squeezy. Confirmed tracks include Upon Returning, The Tent, Before it Began, Sun Goes Down, Where I’ll End Up, The Ornament, and the supposed single, The Thought of Losing You. Working with the likes of Dan the Automator (Gorillaz, Handsome Boy Modeling School, Peeping Tom), dredg seems to be heading into a more bizarrely twisted yet fun realm. The band has just announced a slew of dates with fellow bands The Dear Hunter, Balance and Composure, and our friends, Trophy Fire.

dredg – Sang Real (Dan the Automator Remix)

I don’t know what it is with my favorite bands getting with these crappy teen-fantasy flicks, but it’s producing some amazing new songs. So I guess as long as these movies keep being made, I can keep hearing brilliant new tracks like this just released Fever Ray track for the upcoming crap-fest Red Riding Hood. Seems like a fair trade off.
