Two of our favorite local bands just released some impressive music this week. First up, our friends in Grand Lake give us an almost Grizzly Bear-ish / chamber-pop version of Radiohead’s The Tourist. The track is attached to their latest EP entitled Leaves Ellipse. I’ve had the EP for about a month now and it’s already resonating with me and reminding me of how special this band is. The vocal harmonies, the sonic reverb, and Caleb’s unique songwriting is intact. It’s going to be a good year for Grand Lake.

Last time we heard from Man/Miracle, they released the Dick Dale combined with David Byrne style album The Shape of Things. They return this year with a drum heavy track from their latest Eli Crews (Deerhoof, Beulah) produced album Don’t Waste It. While a release date is unknown at this point, we do however have this one track to listen to on repeat for a good while. Once minute 2:30 comes around, you can’t help but dance and rock the fuck out. If this track is any hint of what’s to come with the new album, it’s going to be a big year for Bay Area music.
