It’s our eighth Snob Theater and it’s time to take part in some insane music and stand-up comedy. In case you’re not familiar with Snob Theater, Snob Theater is a show that features the best in the Bay Area’s indie rock bands and stand-up comedians. The small 60+ seat Dark Room Theater makes for the most intimate of performances and provides a unique and exciting atmosphere. Snob Theater is an event that showcases the comfort of the performers as they take chances in a stripped-down setting.

Our musical guests this month include Bobby Joe Ebola and the Children MacNuggits and The Dead Westerns.

You don’t need a bottle of Jack or even a trace of Southern lineage to appreciate the genius of The Dead Westerns’ Southern Rock charm and Surf Rock style. Without a hint of irony, the San Francisco quintet creates a fast-driving, hard-living tribute to the indelible music and legacy of Pavement, Dick Dale and Willie Nelson. With their debut self titled album, the band kick up a righteous storm, as on the alt-country lick-filled opener Stalling, or the swamp and fuzzy From the Moon Down to the Earth. It’s clear these guys deliver emotional wallops at every turn. Stylistically, they run the gamut from old-timey sounding country to a heavy surf jam influence. In the end it’s all rock & roll and one of the more unique recording artists and live bands coming out of the Bay Area today.

Bobby Joe Ebola and The Children MacNuggits; the men, the legends, are a mighty duo that have developed a significant following since their forming in 1995. Guitarist Dan Abbott and singer Corbett Redford have spread their brand of social commentary comedy and catchy folk punk playing with the likes of !!!, Long Beach Dub All-Stars, Bouncing Souls, Kevin Seconds, and Against All Authority. They are also credited with forming S.P.A.M. Records which is responsible for the early releases of Gravy Train, Fleshies, and Rock and Roll Adventure Kids. Just releasing their third full-length (and first in ten years), F, on October 12th via Silver Sprocket, the album features the likes of Jesse Luscious (Blatz), John Geek (Fleshies, Triclops), and members of Your Mother, Mystic Knights Of The Cobra, bicycle dance troupe the Bay Area Derailleurs and comedian and Snob Theater veteran Alex Koll. We are immensely excited and honored to feature this one of a kind act at this week’s Snob Theater.
