An American singer-songwriter from Shawnee, Oklahoma; Samantha Crain has slowly become a unique voice in the freak folk community. The songs are modest yet vicious without sounding too naive or forced. This brings an impressive and simplisitc style that is actually very catchy and remarkably sweet. Having toured with Frontier Ruckus, Avett Brothers, and the very similar Thao Ngyuen, Samantha is estblishing herself as one to watch this year.

Samantha Crain, I play guitars and harmonicas and kazoo and sing and write songs

2. How would you describe your sound?
confused by too much input

3. What is your favorite local band?
Student Film

4. Any concerts that blew your mind recently?
all Dr.Dog concerts are amazing to me

nothing that I would want to watch

7. What musician/artist would you like to collaborate with for a day?

8. What is the album you listen to on a cold rainy day?
Llasa by Llasa de Sela

9. List four songs you would listen to on a roadtrip?
usually try for Radiolab, This American Life, and Savage Love Podcast instead of songs

10. Where do you see yourselves in 7 years?
Well on my way to being a crazy cat lady…but with pigs and goats instead of cats…maybe one cat…or two

11. What is the last book you read?
Trout Fishing in America by Richard Brautigan

12. Is image a factor in music or is it a waste of time?
it can be if you want it to be

13. Any embarrassing moments on stage you would like to share?
every time i’m on stage is kinda embarrassing

14. Any favorite tour locations?
any place I haven’t been before…i like playing at the Whitewater Tavern in Little Rock, AR the best though

15. Lastly, what is your present state of mind?
I just broke up with my boyfriend so I feel pretty crappy actually..
