Swedish duo First Aid Kit’s 2010 debut full-length Big Black & the Blue, is a formidable first effort betraying a startling maturity for such young spirits. There is enough depth in the lyrics of I Met Up With A King or Hard Believer to bear repeated listenings, while the mainly acoustic-based instrumentation provides a spare yet rhythmically interesting backdrop for the sisters’ gorgeous harmonies. Apparently they are utterly captivating live as well so expect this duo to stick around for quite some time.
