I love when bands seem to semiconsciously develop a sound that represents their hometown. This seems to be the case with the contemporary prog-rock sound coming from By Sunlight (formally known as Bridges). The band has this murky cloud-like feel that carries along very nicely and perfectly captures that late afternoon Seattle atmosphere. Drawing influences from Sunny Day Real Estate and Stereolab, By Sunlight creates intelligent rock that moves and mystifies. Best to get in on this act early.
