Sigur Rós / october 3 • the greek theatre / Berkeley, California

I’ve already been wowed by Radiohead, Jeremy Enigk, and Explosions in the Sky this year. All of which are top contenders for best show of ’08. Plus I already have the Far reunion show coming up in a few weeks. Could this show top them all? I have never seen the mighty Sigur Rós live, so my expectations are high due to all my friends telling me that it will change my whole view on live performances and music in general. My usual response is, “Do they spontaneously combust at the end and somehow piece back together to the tune of Straumnes?” I’d surely hear about such feets if that were true.

Well I figure I’ll get there early enough to get myself a good spot and prepare for the ride of my life. You’ll be the first to know.

    Wow, it didn’t take them long to get across the country. They were pretty damn good in Boston. No orchestra, but still amazing. Opening act’s pretty entertaining, too. Try to get up close if you can. I was able to upgrade to the 13th row. Not too shabby for that venue.

    I have been dying to see them live for a while and just havent had the chance to. I was sad to hear all of their UK shows are sold out. I had friends that caught them at the Greek in LA this month and said it was amazing. I’m out in London working for Blow Up Records and they have this artist called Baltic Fleet that I think Sigur Rós fans would really like, check him out.
