Minus the Bear has generated a pretty sizable audience by performing their odd brand of experimental guitar-taps, unique time signatures, and electronic rock. So it was a little surprising to hear about an acoustic EP in the works. What’s nice about this EP though is that it seems to give different interpretations to familiar songs from Planet of Ice, Menos el Oso, and Highly Refined Pirates. Those that disapproved of MTB’s later material might identify with these slightly stripped down versions that features the whole band in full force. It’s very interesting and it gives a nice sophisticated and almost ‘chillax’ feel that Minus the Bear’s more mellow material is known to bring. In addition, a new song called Guns & Ammo sounds very much like something that would’ve been plucked off one of their older EPs. It’s different and entertaining; as expected from the respected Seattle band.
You can purchase the EP or catch them on tour and buy the physical copy.
