Part Two of our Kuestionnaire continues. If you’re just dropping in; Kiss Kiss‘ music is easily described as avant-garde rock music for classic 70s horror films. We’ve already received answers from drummer Jared Karns. This time around, lead vocalist/guitarist Josh Benash answers the Kuestionnaire and shares his love for Nirvana and nachos.
1. Of all the bands/artists in your CD/record collection, which one is your most cherished?
I’d have to say my extensive collection of Nirvana bootlegs from my teen years still holds a special place in my heart.
2. What have you been listening to lately?
Lots of Piano music by Erik Satie and some of the orchestral arrangements of his gymnopedies by Debussy.
3. What’s your favorite local band?
Local band….. Hmmm. None. My favorite indie band though is !
4. What was the last show you attended?
Do Snuff shows count?
5. What was the greatest show you’ve ever been to?
I saw CATS on Broadway while tripping on 14 cases of Jolt Cola. That was a rush.
6. What show are you looking forward to?
I wanted to See MY BLOODY VALENTINES reunion in NYC, but I didnt have any money for the tickets. =( Thanks downloaders.
7. What musician would you like to hang out/work with for a day?
Don Van Vliet.
8. What four albums you would bring to a deserted island?
Neutral Milk Hotel – In an Aeroplane over the sea
Nirvana – In Utero
Beach Boys – Pet Sounds
Gorkys Zygotic Mynci – How I long to Feel that Summer
9. Would you call yourself a music geek?
Sure. Id also call myself a Whore, Failure, Asshole, Jerk, Obsessive Compulsive reject, Chickenhead, asswart, the list goes on.
10. Any favorite music-related videos/DVDs you own?
Yes. I own the 1980s Richard Elfman film FORBIDDEN ZONE with music by oingo boingo. Its incredible.
11. What’s the last book you read?
The Varieties of Scientific Experience: A Personal View of the Search for God (2006)by Carl Sagan. And the latest issue of JUGS.
12. Do you prefer live performances or recording in the studio?
Both have a totally different feel. In the studio I really enjoy arranging and organizing the string players and horn players. For me that is the best it can get. In terms of personal performance I hate recording with a passion. It always feels so permenant and that adds a whole lot of pressure, where as with a live show you can just react and express yourself in the moment. Its a lot more natural.
13. Any embarrassing moments on stage you’d like to share?
I dont really have too many. Sometimes you can suck live, but we get over that pretty quickly thanks to large emotional barriers and a general apathy that acts like soul anesthetic, but hmmmm, one time we did poop ourselves and roll around in it during a playback of the National Anthem.
14. Any favorite tour locations?
Any town with a cool used record store and a place to get nachos.
15. Lastly, what have you done today?
Today I bought someones diary from 1918 at an estate sale.
Capillary Action – Elevator Fuck
