Since I’ve lived in California, people love to tell me how great the mountain biking here is. So as soon as a got my bike tuned up a bit I went out to conquer the California landscape. I was not ready. I haven’t rode my bike since I moved from Massachusetts (a few months) so I was obviously a little out of shape. But that didn’t stop me God damn it! I just plugged in the ol’ iPod Shuffle and went!
My first ride was to China Camp in San Rafael. Luckily the place is only a mile away from where I live so it didn’t take long to get there. All I can say is, Wow…this place is great. Rolling hills and great views of the bay. Plus some kick ass trails. I would’ve stayed longer but it was getting dark and the batteries in my tail light were dead.

Trip Two consisted of a slight more difficult run. I rode from San Rafael to San Francisco. If any of you know the NorCal landscape at all, you know this is not an easy feet. 18+ miles of painful awesomeness. While there were times I was welcoming death, I did get to see some great areas and I felt a little bit of pride after the journey. Plus I visited some friends for burgers and wine. Oh yes. Needless to say, I took the bus back.

Trip Three had me exploring Point Reyes Station, which is the area where I work. I heard wonderful things about it so I figured I’d pick some random trail and try to conquer it. It was a butt-load harder than I thought! I was dry heaving by the time I got to the top. However the ride down was well worth it.
