Man/Miracle have gotten an unbelievable amount of attention from enthusiastic MP3 bloggers, leading to a perfect spot on tonight’s Rogue Wave show. Anyone that’s felt the lure of bands such as the DeVotchka and Fanfarlo will want to keep listening. In vocalist Dylan “Swimp” Travis, this Bay Area four-piece has found its own Jonathan Richman, a yelping madman that can belt out some pretty impressive and catchy tunes. Meanwhile, the music itself is typically unhinged and under-produced, taking an anything-goes approach that coasts on sheer exuberance and results in moments of profound clarity such as Hot Sprawl and Above the Salon. This is a band for the intelligent listener who’d rather feel music than talk about it.
