Tidings, the debut full length album from the UK’s Wolf People finds the band brimming with vim, vigor and classic rock sensibility. Meshing simple, exceedingly catchy hooks with rhythmic beats, Wolf People will brilliantly crash into the psych-rock genre with this eponymous debut. Wolf People recall one of the most successful fusions of classic pop songwriting and acid house culture, and manage to snare fans from both genres.

This week we have singer/guitarist Jack Sharp answering the Kuestionnaire.

__

1. Could you state your name and what you do in the band?
Hello, my name is Jack. I sing and play guitar.

2. How would you describe your sound?
Humble English music, hopefully by people who understand what they’re doing and have a firm sense of self awareness.

3. What is your favorite local band?
‘’

4. Any concerts that blew your mind recently?
AKRON/FAMILY at the ICA. It gets better and better with hindsight. I felt bewildered while I was there but in a good way.

5. Any non-musical influences you would like to mention?
Edward Bawden, an illustrator who donated his entire studio to my local gallery. He worked hard his whole life making beautiful linocut prints. Very unique and very English.
I’m always inspired by Oliver Postgate too, if Wolf People ever demonstrate even a tiny fraction of the humility, grace, wisdom and warmth of Postgate I could die happy.

6. If your music was to be the theme of a film/TV show, what would it be?
I’d have loved to have some music on Dead Man’s Shoes, but that film wouldn’t benefit from any changes we could make, it’s pretty much perfect.

7. What musician/artist would you like to collaborate with for a day?
DUNGEN!

8. What is the album you listen to on a cold rainy day?
Propinquity – Propinquity

9. List four songs you would listen to on a roadtrip?
Mighty Baby – Egyptian Tomb
Youngbloods – Four in the morning
Mikael Ramel – Artificiell Prana
Pentangle – Travelling Song

10. Where do you see yourselves in 7 years?
I honestly have no idea beyond the next album.

11. What is the last book you read?
The People of the Sea by David Thompson – it was brilliant.

12. Is image a factor in music or is it a waste of time?
Hahah! Have you seen us?
I’m sure it’s important for some bands but it’s not a factor for us. I think we’d look pretty ridiculous if we started trying to dress like other bands or co-ordinating outfits. I remember it being important when I was 16 and in a band but twelve years later I just want to play the guitar and sing nicely if possible.

13. Any embarrassing moments on stage you would like to share?
At one gig we had an over zealous soundman who drowned my voice in echo, and tom’s drums in reverb. I thought it probably didn’t sound as bad out front for some reason so we soldiered on. Apparently it sounded terrible. We make sure we ask for no echo now before every show.

14. Any favorite tour locations?
I love Birmingham (in the UK). Audiences seem to really want to have a good time there. And Liverpool is great too.

15. Lastly, what is your present state of mind?
A mixture of excitement and terror whilst working on our first proper album.
