October 20th marked Lissy Trullie’s release of Self-Taught Learner, which is a grand, exciting and nothing short of brilliant in the form of her debut solo album. You get the sense that there is a tongue-in-check humor here mixed with something personal. There’s a fair share of covers as well that give each song a different interpretation. For instance, Hot Chip’s Ready For The Floor gets a more Pat Benatar feel and Biz Markie’s Just A Friend (w/Adam Green) sounds almost Dylan-like (weird, I know). It’s fun if you’re willing to let go.

You can purchase Self-Taught Learner .
