Bay Area art-rockers SUNBEAM RD have recently released a couple of very impressive tracks on their official bandcamp page. These new tunes are filled with highly dreamy harmonies, off-kilter guitar lines and a soothing atmosphere not unlike their usual material. But I’m sensing a more structured SUNBEAM than before and I like what I hear.
You can catch SUNBEAM RD at SF’s Cafe Du Nord on January 20th and at The Hub in Sacramento on the 22nd.

The most original music to grace my speakers so far this year sounds like an Icelandic family band clashed with a bunch of kids who listen to a shitload of Animal Collective and Incredible String Band. Where are they from? Brooklyn? San Francisco? Austin? Nope, West Palm Beach, Florida. Marcos Gasc & Kenzie Cooke also known as Hear Hums is probably one of the more unique acts to emerge in my inbox.
