There is a plentiful amount of duo folk acts hailing from Brooklyn these days. So when an act sticks out, you have to wonder what makes them any different than the masses. However, one listen is all it takes with Phil and the Osophers. The recent release of their 5th album, Toward Conquering The Invisible North, has brought them quite a bit on attention as well as shows with the likes of Les Savy Fav, The Dodos, Bear Hands, Passion Pit, Bob Dylan, Phosphorescent, and Le Loup. The attention is well deserved for the record is filled with beautifully sensitive lyrics and gentle hip-hopping grooves.
