EPIC FUCKING WEEK!

Okay…here we go. I am going to be burnt out at the end of this week, it’s inevitable. To kick it all off, I’ll be seeing Mogwai tonight for the very first time. As a fan of theirs for years, this is going to be very special for me. I’d rank it up there with when I caught Sigur Ros for the first time last year. This may be equally as epic. Not many bands make me feel the way Mogwai does, so it’s obvious that I have been looking forward to this for a long time. You will be getting your report tonight via as it all goes down.

Monday has Doves at the Fillmore, which I believe is not sold out yet, so get on that. Manchester Orchestra play an acoustic set at the Streetlight Records in San Jose before hitting up the Bottom of the Hill with Audrye Sessions on Tuesday. Also, indie-pop act Youth Group play Café du Nord.

Tuesday, The Kills play The Fillmore to a sold out crowd. One of my favorite bands (duh) dredg play the lovely The Great American Music Hall with Torche and Judgement Day. It’s going to be a very special show with guest appearances and plenty of songs never performed live. They also will be playing Bimbo’s 365 Club on Wednesday as well as The Catalyst in Santa Cruz on Thursday with the same line-up. Pretty much guaranteed to be fantastic. John Vanderslice will be at the ol’ Rickshaw Stop making some noise. And straight-up rock band The Life and Times perform at Café du Nord.

Wednesday has The Decemberists and Other Lives playing a sold out Fox Theater, Modeselektor bring they dance on at 103 Harriet in San Fran, and Kings of Leon and The Walkmen hit up the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium.

Showcasing some of the best bands from Sweden, Denmark, England, Scotland, in addition to a number of the US’s favorite indiepop bands, SF Popfest 2009 kicks off with a killer line-up with Suburban Kids With Biblical Names and Oh No Oh My at the Rickshaw Stop on Thursday, The Hot Toddies and ballboy at Annie’s Social Club on Friday, Magic Bullets on Saturday, the UK’s Gregory Webster on Sunday and much much more. I’m looking forward to some Oh No Oh My and Springfactory but I’m sure I’ll bump into a few acts that will surprise me. Click here for the full line-up and venues for this weekend.

What else is going on? Oh yeah, Thursday we’ve got Ms. Santigold playing The Warfield. Friday you have TV on the Radio and Dirty Projectors at the Fox Theatre in Oakland, the NIN | JA tour with Nine Inch Nails, Jane’s Addiction and Street Sweeper Social Club swings by the Shoreline Amphitheatre and Ghostland Observatory and Drop the Lime hit up the Mezzanine that night.

Saturday! My favorite hip-hop group The Pharcyde perform at the Fillmore and Deadmau5 and a crapload of other trance-ish DJs do the ETD Popsicle at Cow Palace in San Francisco.

Fuckin’ A! What a week…see you out there!
