It’s that time…Snob Theater time! Yup, Snob Theater at The Dark Room Theater returns August 26th and we’ve got a whole new batch of performers for you to experience!

In case you’re not familiar with the show; Snob Theater combines the efforts of the Bay Area’s finest indie rock bands and stand-up comedians into one fun-filled variety show. The small 60+ seat Dark Room Theater makes for the most intimate of performances and provides a unique and exciting atmosphere for both the audience and the performing artists. Snob Theater is an event that showcases the comfort of the performers as they take chances in a stripped-down setting.

Friday, August 26th at 10PM will feature singer-songwriter extraordinaire Jascha vs Jascha and Bay Area folk rock mastermind The Blank Tapes (Matt Adams). And as usual we will be hosting a whole new batch of the Bay Area’s best in stand-up comedy with John Hoogasian , Josef Anolin, Anita Drieseberg, and Phil Johnson.

Jascha vs Jascha

Jascha Hoffman is a journalist and songwriter in San Francisco. His debut album A Cure for Sleep has been praised for its “deceptively simple, deeply weird pop songs” that earn him comparisons to Sufjan Stevens, Magnetic Fields and “Leonard Cohen without the attitude.” Jascha has played keys and percussion with Chloe Roth, Dina Maccabee, Leo Sidran and the Brooklyn indie-folk band Girls in Trouble. He plays regularly at intimate venues such as the Rockwood Music Hall in New York City. His next recording, due in late 2011, is The Future Limited. Witness the man himself in all his glory at Snob Theater Friday, August 26th.

The Blank Tapes

Think of Buddy Holly or Neil Young or Joe Ely or Bill Fox or Robert Pollard and now guys like Greg Cartwright—they were born to one day stretch a finger over a fretboard and make something old sound new yet again. And so here comes Matt Adams (aka The Blank Tapes) with more songs in his head at any given time than he can even reliably count—he slid from eighty to over a hundred last time we made him index—and an album of the ten he knew he could connect together to make something bigger than itself. He calls this one Home Away From Home, and he’s right.
