On June 7th, Hooray For Earth’s synth-pop extravaganza of a debut album, True Loves, mixed by Chris Coady (Beach House, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, TV on the Radio) was launched upon the masses. As a fan of the band since their trek through Boston and now NY, it’s great to see the group get such a positive response. In fact, it’s nice to see the band take the Boston-NYC throne from Passion Pit, who’s been out of the game for quite some time now. The debut album breathes disparate elements including electro-synth, rock and afrobeats whilst remaining resolutely fresh, inventive and filled with a blissfully melancholic sound. This has to be one of 2011′s most explosive debuts and force to be reckoned with this summer.

You can purchase True Loves here.

The Kuestionnaire has returned with a vengeance with Hooray For Earth frontman and mastermind Noel Heroux as he gives us an interesting concept for a theme of a film/TV show he’d like to create.

Enjoy!

1. Could you state your name and what you do in the band?
Noel, I write and record our music. When we play live I’m singing, guitar.

2. How would you describe your sound?
I wouldn’t!

3. What is your favorite local band?
In NYC, Zambri.

4. Any concerts that blew your mind recently?
The last time my mind was truly super-blown was seeing Basement Jaxx with a full band and guests in 2002! Well, there have been many since then – but that one always jumps out at me first…

5. Any non-musical influences you would like to mention?
That first Stargate movie with James Spayder. Something about the nighttime desert energy and electrical storms and hieroglyphics…

6. If your music was to be the theme of a film/TV show, what would it be?
oh shit, I don’t know. A modern day continuation/prequel of Twin Peaks, starring Robert Pattison as a young Dale Cooper and somehow get Kirsten Dunst in it? Would have to use some deeper cuts from the album tho, and do ambient remixes of everything for the entire show to work.

7. What musician/artist would you like to collaborate with for a day?
There’s too many, but I’ll say Chris Cunningham.

8. What is the album you listen to on a cold rainy day?
Sounds like a cliche but Arab Strap’s The Red Thread is one I go to on duller days.

9. List four songs you would listen to on a roadtrip?
Aphex Twin – ‘Alberto Balsam’
Broadcast – ‘Come On, Let’s Go’
Brian Eno – Track 1 on Music For Airports
Starflyer 59 – ‘Traffic Jam’

10. Where do you see yourselves in 7 years?
Maybe teaching a small child how to build a proper fort out of blankets and couch cushions. Will ideally be doing music full-time. We shall see. I want to open a bar at some point.

11. What is the last book you read?
GLUE by Irvine Welsh

12. Is image a factor in music or is it a waste of time?
I think it’s worth being ‘aware’ of, but whatever. Everyone does their thing and some people make a true art of their image. I suppose it’s about approaching every aspect with care, no matter what.

13. Any embarrassing moments on stage you would like to share?
Play a 45 minute set with your fly down.

14. Any favorite tour locations?
Birmingham, AL – The Bottletree!

15. Lastly, what is your present state of mind?
Breezy, via MySpace emoticon
